2015 Events Calendar


August 29th 2015: 

The USC Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities co-sponsored a talk and presentation by esteemed artist, Professor Sharon Poliakine of the University of Haifa, at the New Emanuel Minyan at Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills on Saturday. She spoke about the University of Haifa and her work as an artist. She showed some images of her own work in an online presentation.


September 17th-19th 2015: 

7th Biennial International Feuchtwanger Society Conference, entitled “Lion Feuchtwanger and Judaism” will be co-sponsored by the USC Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities. On the 18th from 11:15am- 12:15pm, Ruth Weisberg will be moderating the panel “Jewish Pasts and Jewish Futures: Feuchtwanger and Israel.” Paul Lerner will be speaking on the following panel “Reevaluating Jewishness in Dark Times: Feuchtwanger and Arnold Zweig on Jewish Nationalism and Zionism.”

September 24th – November 5th 2015: 

The 2nd Jerusalem Biennale for Contemporary Jewish Art will be showcasing the work of nearly 200 Israeli and international professional artists in 10 exhibitions hosted in seven city venues in Jerusalem. Ruth Weisberg is featured in two exhibitions, “Women of the Book” and “7,652 mi.” The latter was organized by Jewish Artists Initiative (JAI).


October 28th / 29th 2015: 

Adi Nes, very noted Tel Aviv based photographer, will be giving two presentations both sponsored by the USC Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities. Adi will be speaking at the Graduate Fine Arts building from 6:00-8:00pm on October 28th as part of the “Roski Talks.” On October 29th he will be speaking at the Shoshana Wayne Gallery at the Bergamot Station in Santa Monica at 7:00pm.


January 24th 2016: 

James S. Snyder, the Director of The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, will be the inaugural speaker for the Annual Endowed Nazarian Lecture. The event will take place from 2:30pm-5:30pm at the Gin D. Wong Auditorium in Harris Hall on the USC campus.
